The Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager will need to have excellent leadership skills and have a demonstrated record of success in developing and deploying effective, robust quality and improvement systems that all associates in the organization embrace. The successful candidate must have excellent team skills, both as a team member and a team trainer and developer. Must be able to drive improvement projects, manage an ISO 9001 QMS and introduce innovative quality solutions.
Lead plant efforts to conform to all customer and industry requirements ensure quality systems are in place to meet and sustain certification status for ISO 9001, UL, CSA, etc.
Facilitate customer and regulatory agency inspections. Develop a thorough knowledge of the documentation associated with the various inspections and ensure the plant is in compliance.
Coordinate, assist, and arrange resources necessary to ensure timely project completion and drive quality improvement results
Ensure testing protocols and procedures are in compliance with governing purchase orders and customer specifications and develop appropriate statistical sampling and control methods to assure desired product quality levels
Develop quality performance metrics and, in concert with operations staff, drive improvements throughout the organization.
Use statistically based tools to lead root cause and corrective action efforts to reduce process variability and defects
Develop and improve processing techniques to improve quality and reduce scrap and rework.
Develop new products and materials for commercial use.
Develop and improve systems to facilitate cable design.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Technical training at various levels of the organization; set-up, facilitate and lead service improvement sessions with a range of business stakeholders (incl. Experience of process/value stream mapping)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of business partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts
Excellent team skills - as a team member and trainer, and developer
Experience in process-driven, continuous operations - wire and cable experience highly desirable,
Proven project management skills
Ability to develop strategic plans for quality and technical processes; thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements
Strong record of root cause analysis, lean system implementation, and use of six sigma toolset
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Experience of the whole project life cycle, able to operate in the initial conceptual design stage, in the depths of system testing, and at each stage in between
5-7 years of manufacturing management experience with a minimum of 3 years as the leader of the quality and engineering functions
Experience in managing an ISO 9001 QMS certified system
Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred
