Position Summary: The School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) is seeking qualified applicants for one or more Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Practice positions within the School of Health Sciences Rehabilitation Services baccalaureate program and/or the Counseling and Rehabilitation Education (CARE) graduate program. Position(s) begin on or after January 1, 2023.
The intent of this announcement is to identify a pool of non-tenure-track faculty for these programs. These are variable-time, term, non-tenure-track positions that are contingent on available funding and enrollment. Reappointment is possible based on performance, programmatic need and budget availability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success.
Teaches hybrid, synchronous and asynchronous online courses, and/or in person courses depending on scheduling.
To participate in and complete course assessment activities as applicable for the courses taught in the Rehabilitation Services and CARE programs.
To engage in other duties as assigned by the Director of the School of Health Sciences.
Master's or Doctoral degree in counselor education, rehabilitation education, addictions counseling and/or other related behavioral health studies. For individuals holding a Master’s degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Lecturer. For individuals holding a Doctoral degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice.
Licensure and certification (LPC, and/or CRCC, and/or CADC) is required to teach graduate level courses and to supervise graduate level clinical experiences.
Experience with, or the knowledge and ability to create, capture and deliver high quality learning content using online learning management systems.
Experience in teaching and clinical supervision is preferred.
Experience in individual and group counseling methods is preferred.
