Provides development and improvement of risk mitigation systems and processes that support a culture of high reliability and improved outcomes at Allina Health. Manages clinical risk issues specific to documentation, retaining information, and risk investigations on events and support the sites assigned. Works in collaboration with system safety, regulatory, and compliance to leverage resources in creating teams to resolve issues and determines strategic vision for assigned groups. Supports staff participation at all levels and promotes communication and feedback mechanisms throughout the organization.
Risk Prevention
Provides oversight of site policy process.
Review and investigate internal patient safety event (incident) reports and analyze level of harm, risk and liability exposure.
Scan externally to maintain awareness of new and existing patient safety issues and communicate trends to support an effective risk prevention program.
Coordinate recall/safety alert notices and track activity related to those notices.
Provide content expertise in and outside the organization on patient safety improvement strategy and ERM methodology.
Collaborate with clinical, quality, and performance improvement staff, etc. to enhance patient safety and mitigate risk.
Collaborate with Communications/PR to provide content specific to risk.
Represent Allina Health Group Risk Services in a variety of internal and external meetings.
Advise on safety/risk procedures to prevent or minimize the loss of property, assets or lives.
Collaborate with Allina legal staff on high-risk exposure and legal concerns.
Assist in the design and implementation of risk safety surveys/studies.
Support surveys, studies, and special projects to assist in short and long term planning, identifying change that reduces risk, loss and injury.
Complete written reports that identify the findings, conclusions, and recommendations for improvement in high-risk areas.
Consultation & Coaching
Members of the Risk Management Council
Works with staff, managers, and physicians in promotion of proactive risk management activities
Work with patients, visitors and families to resolve concerns.
Model quality principles in all interactions of conduct within the position areas of responsibility.
Provide assistance to other departments in meeting regulatory requirements, requirements from various sources.
Member of various site and system committees to provide risk support and expertise.
Regulatory
Assist in coordination of process for reacting to recall, safety alerts and use of the Medwatch system though the FDA
Education
Use innovative information-sharing and education technologies to enhance learning and outreach to staff, patients, and external audiences.
Collaborate with leadership and attend appropriate meetings to provide contact expertise on risk.

Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field required and
Master's degree Healthcare or business administration, healthcare preferred
5 to 7 years experience in risk or relevant health care field required and
2 to 5 years experience managing people preferred
Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) If not certified, expect complete when eligible to test preferred
Clinical Healthcare licensure preferred
Position will be a combination of On Site and Remote work in Faribault and Owatonna.
On Call Rotation will be required
Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of data
Minimum of 5 years in an acute care setting, with increasing responsibilities in patient safety, risk management and/or quality management.
Experience in working with providers.
Experience in working in a consultative manner focusing on capturing and generating ideas and making recommendations without directing.
