The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, located at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a biochemical geneticist to join in our clinical and teaching activities.

The Division serves inpatients and outpatients of all ages in general genetics, cardiovascular genetics, and multidisciplinary metabolic clinic. There is a busy metabolic practice covering a range of inborn errors of metabolism in over 1000 active patients. The Division also supports a Clinical Genetics residency program, and fellowships in Medical Biochemical, Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Nationwide Children’s is 1 of 8 Regional Genetics Centers funded by the Ohio Department of Health, serving over 3.5 million (>750,000 pediatric age) in central, northwest and southeast Ohio, with 35,000 births annually.  

The successful candidate will join an expanding team that consists of eight clinical geneticists (two metabolic), 12 genetic counselors, two full-time metabolic dieticians, three nurse practitioners, a dedicated metabolic psychologist and metabolic medical assistants/LPNs. Full genetics laboratory services on site include biochemical genetics, cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostic labs with on-site exome and genome sequencing as well as flexibility to send-out testing as needed.

There are a number of active clinical trials or natural history studies conducted through the Division.  The investigators associated with the Research Institute have frequent collaborations with clinical faculty. Additionally, a main strategic focus at Nationwide Children’s is the implementation of genomic medicine across the hospital led by the new Institute of Genomic Medicine, which is closely affiliated with the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine. The Division also closely collaborates with the Center for Gene Therapy.
