Responsible for the design and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and to maintain ISO Certification for the Quality Management System. Also leads other key programs in conjunction with other senior managers.
Responsible for the overall Quality Management System. Among other things, this includes the design and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure continued compliance to ISO 9001 certification. Also leads other key programs in conjunction with other senior managers.
Establishes quality assurance/quality control system and procedures.
Chairs the Material Review Board meetings and publishes minutes.
Works with and trains (as authors) the business process owners to develop/create/maintain operating procedures and work instructions to describe all key processes in order to provide compliance to all requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
Leads/maintains Company to ISO Certification.
o Includes chairing the quarterly management review of quality meetings and publishing minutes and action items.
o Acts as the M.R. for third party external certification audits.
Analyzes data, evaluates products and oversees inspections and audits.
Investigates product quality problems and recommends changes or improvements.
Creates and publishes monthly Key Performance Reports.
Maintains proper documentation and reports.
Supervises QA Technician in the Elmhurst location.
Trains other employees as needed to assure compliance to all procedures and work instructions.
Trains internal auditors as necessary.
May participate in vendor evaluation.
Continuous interaction with all areas of the Company
Manages the Workplace Safety Program.
o Acts as the OSHA Coordinator for any inspections and/or complaints.
o Chairs the Workplace Safety Committee meetings and provides minutes and action item items.
o Coordinates necessary on-going activities such as fire and tornado/earthquake drills, facility safety assessment audits, employee training, etc.
Manages the ITAR compliance program.
o This includes the annual registration renewal process and annual internal audits.
Assists Dowling Magnets in the creation of product safety certificates.
Acts as the point person for compliance and regulatory requirements and requests.
Performs other functions as required.
Minimum Qualifications Required
College degree in business or related discipline; additional courses in accounting/auditing or quality control preferred.
ASQ Certification and/or 6 Sigma training preferred.
Five years of related experience as quality assurance professional, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
Knowledge of ISO 9000 requirements with some knowledge of requirements in magnetics industry preferred.
Experience with other quality standards a plus:
Automotive: IATF 16949.
Aerospace: AS 9100.
Basic business writing skills: ability to communicate effectively, make presentations and write concise reports for all levels of employees.
Willingness to travel 10% of the time.
