JOB PURPOSE:
Full-time, Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Public Health (Community Health or Epidemiology preferred), Division of Kinesiology and Health, College of Health Sciences, University of Wyoming, beginning August 2023. This in-person, tenure-track, research-intensive position is part of a presidential hiring initiative focused on building research productivity across campus and will have research, teaching, and service responsibilities. The position will have a dedicated graduate assistant to support research and teaching efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop an active and independent research program in community health and/or epidemiology that leads to refereed publications in the scientific community, national/international presentations, and acquisition of funding to support research
Provide quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels in community health and/or epidemiology and in related areas within the candidate’s area of expertise
Mentor undergraduate and graduate (masters or doctoral) students
Provide service to the division, college, university, state, as well as to the greater professional society

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate in a public health field or a closely related area from an accredited institution.
Evidence of ability to teach courses in community health and/or epidemiology at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
Evidence of ability to generate research contributions in public health related fields
Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Expertise in community- and systems-level change and/or in applied epidemiology
Experience in primary data collection and the translation of research into public health action
Evidence of research contributions in community health and/or epidemiology, such as publications in peer-reviewed journals and record of pursuing and securing funding for research
Evidence of effective teaching in community health and/or epidemiology courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
Experience working with diverse populations
Commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research endeavors

The Division of Kinesiology and Health has 12 full-time tenure-track faculty members and two extended-term academic professionals. Our faculty has received research grants and contract support from diverse extramural agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food Research Initiative (AFRI), United States Department of Education (USDE), Wyoming Departments of Education (WDE) and Health (WDH), as well as the American Heart Association (AHA).
