The Risk Manager is responsible for administering the Clinic's risk management program in conjunction with the Director of Quality Management.

Principal Responsibilities
Administer the Clinic's risk management program in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization while complying with state and federal laws and accreditation standards related to safety and risk management.
Develop and provide ongoing education and in-services for providers, departments, and employees on the topic of risk management.
Provide oversight and assistance to providers ISMIE healthcare practice insurance Fellowship program.
Monitor and guide providers through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation process when a complaint has been filed.
Organize and execute the office risk assessment with the malpractice insurer for providers who qualify and provide feedback on potential areas of risk to the QM Committee and healthcare teams.
Manage Clinical Risk Nurse who is responsible for receiving, investigating, documenting, and summarizing all customer complaints and adverse clinical events directed to the Quality Management Department.
Assist with development and management of incident reporting database.
Provide oversight, identify trends, and investigations for patient complaints and incidents.
Maintain aggregate statistics of patient complaints and incidents.
Conduct root cause analysis to assess contributing factors to a problem or event.
Reviews and analyzes all incident reports for Risk Management, quality of care, regulatory and insurance concerns.
Collaborate with Director of Quality Management and Quality Management Manager for development and implementation of policies and procedures related to risk management for the Clinic.
Collaborate with the Quality Management Manager for risk management program with Springfield Clinic Health and Safety Committee by acting as a resource person and presenting relevant risk management issues for discussion and evaluation.
Keeps abreast of appropriate regulatory requirements related to risk management.
Assists Quality Management Manager with reviewing laws, regulations, and current literature to determine areas that need to be assessed to ensure the Clinic is maintaining standards required by OSHA (medically related), Medicare, Public Health, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other accrediting bodies (e.g., AAAHC).
Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
Perform other job duties as assigned
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in nursing, healthcare administration or other allied health related science is required.
At least five (5) years' experience or strong background in risk management is required.
Licenses/Certificates
Current Illinois RN license if applicable.
Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have strong analytical abilities.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Good human relations skills are required.
Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to present oneself and one's ideas with clarity, confidence, and pride.
Knowledge of healthcare related laws and regulations is preferred.
