The University of Washington Schools of Medicine and Public Health are seeking a Chair of the Department of Global Health that bridges these two schools. The leader of the Department of Global Health is expected to support the mission of improving health for all through research, education, training, and service; to understand and address the causes of disease and health inequities at multiple levels; and to collaborate with partners to develop and sustain locally led, quality health systems, programs, and policies. Leading a group of dedicated faculty, staff and students, the Chair will model the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, anti-racism, and the de-colonialization of global health through their research, teaching, mentoring, practice, and service. The Chair will be expected to support the continued evolution of the department, and embrace the core values of excellence, social justice and equity, diversity, collaboration, interdisciplinary approaches, global partnerships, and integrity.

Extensive global health experience living and working in the Global South.
The position is tenured with appointment at the rank of Professor. This position is full-time (100% FTE) within a 12-month service period. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
The base salary range for this position will be: $21,250 - $33,334 per month ($255,000 - $400,008 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative salary supplement for administrative service as chair.
The Department of Global Health is a diverse department with faculty expertise in global cardiovascular health; global environmental change impacts on health; global injury and violence prevention; global mental health; health of women, adolescents, and children; HIV/AIDS, STIs, and other infectious diseases; implementation science; health system strengthening; Primary Health Care strengthening; and pandemic disease preparedness and global health security. Faculty are nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields, representing 15 of 16 UW Schools and Colleges and 41 departments – a true campus-wide collaboration.
The Department of Global Health is home to several degree programs including a PhD in Global Health: Metrics and Implementation Science, PhD in Pathobiology, Doctor of Global Health Leadership and Practice, Master of Public Health, and Undergraduate Global Health Minor
