The Research Manager will provide research expertise and leadership to the Schroeder Institute (SI) on time-sensitive and priority projects. The Research Manager will conduct and supervise research and evaluation activities in the areas of nicotine prevention messaging and tobacco control policy including:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinating projects conducted internally, such as those to evaluate Truth Initiative's programs and further Truth Initiative’s efforts to inform evidence-based health communication strategies and tobacco regulation
Managing collaborations with external partners and government partners to develop external campaigns and research studies;
Leading research activities, including selecting and refining study measures, developing and implementing surveys, overseeing quality control of data collection, developing analysis plans and preparing summaries of findings;
Assisting other departments in projects, initiatives, and reports to further Truth Initiative’s mission;
Co-authoring manuscripts for peer-review publication, managing literature searches and reviews
Managing the preparation of grant/contract applications;
Presenting research findings at conferences and meetings and collaborating with colleagues in the development of materials for conference, academic or other scientific purposes;
Overseeing small teams of staff to perform projects and tasks mentioned above.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in Communication, Public Health, Psychology, or similar with prior experience publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals. The candidate must also have an interest, and ideally, experience, in tobacco control research. Previous experience in project management and supervision of staff is preferred; a solid background in research methodology, health behavior change theory and practice, and overseeing analyses is preferred. Excellent communication skills, with a focus on writing ability, are essential. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is essential.
