Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness. Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met. Evaluates suppliers’ internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.
Responsible for developing and driving systemic programs to ensure defect free parts and or assemblies arrive at our dock at six sigma quality levels from our suppliers. Create an environment where our Suppliers identify problems, confirm root causes, and implement corrective actions before a product hits our factory floor. Reward proactive achievement. Set expectation levels that represent best in class performance and ensure the suppliers we have selected and the practices we have in place are the right practices to hit those performance levels identified. When required, evaluates suppliers’ internal functions to assess their overall performance capability, perform a gap analysis, and help validate appropriate actions have been identified for improvement.
Directs and coordinates Supplier Quality programs and initiatives with the Purchasing Manager and the Quality Manager. Create measurable continuous improvement results that are driven by the supplier organization and delivered in timeframes that are acceptable to Dimatix.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Management of the Approved Vendor List (AVL), Supplier Certification, and Ship to Stock initiatives
Conduct surveys, when appropriate, of supplier facilities and manufacturing processes to determine adequacy and capability of supplier to meet quality specifications.
Reviews quality problems with appropriate personnel and directs action required to correct defects. Support the MRB process in cooperation with materials personnel
Prepares periodic reports concerning department activities, problems, supplier quality improvement initiates and various continuous improvement programs
In cooperation with Purchasing and Quality, sets the purchased part quality continuous improvement agenda. Help drive continuous improvement throughout the Supplier base, based on impact to Dimatix’ objectives.
Participates in company initiatives that impact the supply base
Directs the Supplier to perform root cause problem definition, analysis, and corrective action using sound problem solving techniques. Consults with the supplier as required.
Support new product introduction and the engineering change processes internally and at Suppliers, specifically overseeing part-supplier qualification.
Set up a third party SQE consulting infrastructure and drive suppliers lacking in the necessary quality and analytical resources to use that third party infrastructure to improve capabilities.
Apply principles of Six Sigma and QS9000/APQP when and where appropriate in driving supplier initiatives
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of external (supplier) and internal support resources, including 3rd party quality contract labor, to ensure that piece part quality requirements of internal customers are satisfied by the AVL supply base.

BS Degree plus 5 years experience in a related field or Master’s Degree plus 3 years experience in a related field.
Knowledge of QS, ISO or equivalent quality standards
Quality auditing experience
Knowledge and experience with Capability analysis, Six Sigma methods and/or APQP required.
Experience in and knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) very desirable.
Experience in application of quality tools such as SPC and FMEA expected.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Practices.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret drawings and technical procedures, including G, D & T.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers.
Ability to communicate and effectively present information to top management, suppliers, customers, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the organization.
Ability to use computer tools such as Minitab, Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, and Powerpoint is expected.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
Works on complex problems requiring logical analysis of a variety of data and the influences of multiple factors.
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
American Society of Quality Certified Quality Engineer desired
Six Sigma Black Belt certification is very desirable, as are Quality Engineering and QS or ISO certification.

Ability to travel approximately 20-40% of the time to supplier sites.
May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous
Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and
every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their
work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after
transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.
