The role you’ll contribute:
The Research Compliance Analyst II is integral to the implementation of the Research Compliance Program of the AdventHealth Research Institute (AHRI) through responding to research compliance related inquiries, providing education and training, and conducting monitoring of research billing processes. Primary efforts and responsibilities are centered on the prevention, detection and reporting of Medicare Fraud and Abuse. The Research Compliance Analyst II operates independently conducting internal compliance reviews and quality assurance/quality improvement monitoring to assess compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, guidance, and standards, as well as AHRI Policies & Procedures related to research billing integrity and compliance. The Research Compliance Analyst II records and submits a report of findings, assists in Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) plan development, and follow up to ensure the study team resolves all findings and completes the CAPA adequately. The Research Compliance Analyst II will prepare and provide any requested and/or required reporting to the Research Oversight Committee (ROC), Corporate Compliance, and AHRI senior leadership and work collaboratively with Corporate Compliance to ensure research billing compliance and integrity.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
Works collaboratively with ORI Director and managers to identify, prioritize, schedule and coordinate compliance and monitoring reviews of research billing processes to be conducted.
Independently conducts onsite internal compliance reviews of research billing practices and processes to assess compliance with applicable federal and/or state regulations, and applicable AdventHealth (AH)/AHRI Policies and Procedures related to research billing. Research Compliance Analyst II will document any noncompliance findings he/she identifies and determines during the review. Conducting onsite reviews will require driving to various AH campuses such as the Orlando campus, Celebration campus, and Winter Park campus, and others.
Documents findings objectively via a compliance review report and identifies required actions to bring the project into compliance in a thorough and concise manner. Additional recommendations and/or subsequent requirements demonstrating best practices related to deficiencies identified will also be communicated in the compliance review report. Upon completion of the report, ensure it is reviewed by the Research Integrity Director, and ensure it is delivered in the appropriate manner to the responsible team members. One-on-one and informal training may be provided while delivering and going over compliance review reports with PIs, and or study team members in-person.
Guides research departments, research investigators, and study teams in conducting root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventative action plans (CAPAs) resulting from compliance review results and activities.
Conducts follow-up of action required items identified in compliance reviews, ensuring the Principal Investigator (PI), and/or research team completes the required actions within the identified timeframe as outlined in the compliance review report until resolution of all required actions is achieved.
Prepares and executes project plans and steps related to the improvement of the Research Compliance Program, and the annual Research Compliance Risk Assessment initiatives.
Provides guidance and serves as a resource and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to AHRI research departments and individual research team members regarding issues related to research billing compliance.
Offers input and assists in the ongoing risk assessment of the AHRI Research Compliance Program effectiveness as it relates to research billing integrity.
Facilitates and promotes activities to foster effective communication and information deployment regarding AHRI Policies and Procedures (P&Ps), and research billing compliance awareness within AH.
Conducts and provides education and training opportunities, presentations, etc. (live in-person, online, and/or recorded sessions) related to all research billing topics including, regulations, practices, processes, AHRI policies & procedures.
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert in the area of research billing integrity and compliance to the Research Education & Communication Program Manager, assisting with ORI educational presentations and content related to research billing compliance topics.
Assists in the review, analysis, and completion of results of compliance reviews and activities, and assists in the preparation of reports detailing the findings including aggregate information for enterprise and metrics reports.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·Bachelor’s degree in healthcare (healthcare finance, medical coding, administration or research related field); AND
·Five (5) years of work experience in healthcare, clinical research, research billing, medical coding, revenue cycle, or related field in a healthcare setting
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
·Master’s degree in healthcare, administration, or research related field.
·Five (5) years or more of experience in research (clinical trials) or grants (pre-award or post-award)
·Experience in area of research billing compliance, medical coding, or revenue cycle management in a medical practice or hospital setting.
·Auditing/monitoring of billing practices in a healthcare system.
·Experience working with outside counsel, and external auditors.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
·Certification through any professional research organization such as The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA), Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), or Society of Research Administrators International (SRA); OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through a healthcare professional organization such as American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
·Certification in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC) through the Compliance Certification Board (CCB)
