As a Senior Environmental Engineer (PE), you will be responsible for providing environmental services and project management, networking and enhancing SUMMIT’s environmental client base and potential growth opportunities while overseeing environmental professionals and projects.
Job Responsibilities:
Travel to various job sites in a company provided vehicle
Mentor and grow Environmental team members’ environmental testing and knowledge base
Develop and manage projects with existing and new clients
Daily management of all phases of ongoing environmental projects
Provide on-site project management to complete field testing
Environmental business development, networking and marketing
Create, prepare and update project proposals and technical reports
Schedule project testing and other necessary field work
Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including, but not limited to asbestos inspections and air monitoring, Phase I and Phase II site assessments, underground storage tanks (UST) location and removal, soil and groundwater testing, erosion and sediment control inspection, lead, radon and mold testing and remediation, PLM, PCM and mold analyses
Complete accurate and detailed field-testing reports and/or diagrams
Maintain daily communication and provide supervision to technicians, contractors and other project managers
Review, update and approve invoices weekly for on-going projects
Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects
Maintain quality standards on all projects
Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions such as wet and/or humid environments, extreme cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work environments
Field work on outside construction sites involving long-term standing and potentially repetitive motions
This role is combined with 50% field work, 40% office work and 10% travel
Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus), smell, hear and touch (use your hands to reach, climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit
Some weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required
May be required to drive hundreds of miles per day
Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs
Job Requirements:
Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
4-year degree in engineering, geology or applied science with an emphasis on environmental from an accredited university
At least 5 years of experience in geology, environmental engineering and/or related experience
Required: Professional Engineer or Geologist License (PE or PG) and/or certification in field of expertise
Preferred: knowledge in: OSHA 10/30-hour, Asbestos, Lead Paint, Phase I ESA
Preferred: local working with strong client relationships
Preferred: Brownfield experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to use technology/computer
Ability to accurately complete field-testing paperwork and detailed figures
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, detailed reports, short correspondence and memos
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Strong leadership skills and an eye for detail
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and integrity
