Clinical Risk Manager and Patient Safety Officer is responsible for administering the risk management and patient safety programs on a day-to-day basis for Onslow Memorial Hospital. Primary duties include ensuring effective loss prevention/control and compliance with state, federal guidelines and OMH Standards, documenting, managing and analyzing risk management data, conducting proactive risk and safety assessments, conducting targeted risk management and safety education, actively articulating and promoting a compelling vision for patient safety and risk mitigation, providing risk management and patient safety consultation with the objective of promoting patient safety and loss prevention activity in protection of organizational assets. The role is also responsible for developing partnerships with physicians, nurses and other clinical and non-clinical leaders to support process improvements and to assess and understand the internal and external patient safety landscape.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
CPHRM preferred
TeamSTEPPs master training preferred but not required
Successful testing to earn National Patient Safety Foundation certification as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) required within 2 years of hire
Completion of IHI open school patient safety curriculum within one year of hire
Experience:
Five (5) years of combined experience that may include risk management, clinical,or patient safety work experience.
Prior experience in patient safety and risk management is preferred.
Experience in leading teams, facilitation, interdisciplinary team building, process improvement, and data management.
