Participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary research staff. Independently provides research audiological services in hearing research using human subjects. Manages multiple aspects of research endeavors in the assigned research laboratory.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Performs a wide range of routine and advanced audiological tests, as necessary, to determine hearing status.
Participates in special projects, and/or research studies using human research testing protocols.
Supervises the work of other audiologists or students as assigned by the Laboratory Coordinator.
Recruits subjects for participation in approved research projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of hearing disorders to determine hearing status via a variety of audiological, psychoacoustic, and/or physiological tests
Knowledgeable of local, regional, and national regulations related to the use of humans as research subjects, including, but limited to subject/patient confidentiality procedures in accordance with HIPAA.
Ability to follow human subjects procedures and obtain informed consent from subjects.
In cooperation with the IRB and with the Coordinator of the HRSC, perform regular quality assurance assessments of the consent process.
Ability to follow a research protocol under the direction of the principal investigator of the research project.
Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
Ability to operate research and clinical equipment, software, and other specialized devices necessary for the conduct of research.
Should have effective oral and written communication skills and be able to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Assists with data analysis, the development of tables and figures, and manuscript preparation as assigned.
Master's or AUD degree in audiology from an ETB accredited university required.
Minimum of one year of practical experience in the area of audiology required.
Knowledge and understanding of hearing disorders and of normal hearing function for subjects of all ages required.
Have or be eligible for appropriate state licensing required.
