Reporting to the Institutional Review Board Director, the Institutional Review Board Coordinator assists with advising investigators and research coordinators in IRB policy and human subject research regulations; reviews new study submissions and follow-up study events; aids in preparation of monthly Research Committee agendas and minutes; aids in educational initiatives; performs a variety of administrative tasks as required; maintaining and establishing efficient, orderly and effective procedures and timely flow of communication.
Responsibilities:
Performs regulatory review and analysis of research study submissions for consistency, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and institutional policy.
Provides guidance and consultation regarding the interpretation of regulations, laws, and policies to researchers, staff, and research administrators related to IRB research submissions.
Consults with stakeholders, researchers, staff, IRB members and other customers on research projects.
Attends monthly Research Committee meetings; keeps minutes and maintains accurate attendance records.
Assists the IRB Director with educational initiatives.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, program safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or four years of experience in a related field.
IRB coordinator and/or human research regulatory coordinator experience preferred.
Minimum two years of experience with federal and state regulations governing human subject research. Institution supports CIP/CIM certification for this position when candidate is eligible.
Ability to learn and master proprietary software such as IRIS, IRBNET, IRB Manager, as these programs are critical to day-to-day operations, as well as competency with MS Office software.
Ability to independently manage several projects at once and ability to pay attention to details while working under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal, English verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with researchers, IRB staff, IRB members, senior leadership and other customers.
Ability to successfully and professionally communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
