The Civil Engineer will interpret architectural layouts and design plans to establish engineering criteria, contract drawings and technical specifications for complex portions of design plans for major projects, such as, construction, remodeling, operation, maintenance of repair of structures and installations.
This key role will represent NYC Transit Bus Operations in relationships with State and City agencies, consultants, contractors, and damage claimants. In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring field surveys and construction inspections to ensure compliance with technical codes and contract specifications, performing design assessments and cost estimates for issuance of technical reports and modification requests. Further, the civil engineer will inspect equipment and material for acceptance, participate in engineering inspections, perform supervisory work, and evaluate subordinates’ work for progress reports.
