Job Description
The Loudoun County Department of Health is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as an Emergency Operations Specialist/Training Coordinator.
Under general direction this critical position will:
Coordinate preparedness, prevention, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for public health emergencies, events, and disasters, including maintaining awareness of equipment operations status. As well as maintain knowledge of regional plans, policies and procedures.
Develop and execute a comprehensive public health training and exercise program using a variety of learning platforms to prepare employees and stakeholders for effective public health emergency response.
Provide subject matter expertise in public health emergency preparedness by creating and revising emergency plans, operations plans, training plans, and program evaluation by integrating after-action data into plan development and revisions.
Assists in supporting County emergency operations. (Supports the County as part of the County's incident command structure for emergency operations, primarily providing field operations guidance and leadership during public health emergencies as outlined in the Loudoun County Emergency Operations Plan.)
May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of emergency preparedness and response resources and methods including bioterrorism and disease outbreak management principles, theories, and practices as well as working in the community environment. Skill in developing designing and delivering effective training classes, workshops, and exercises/drills, employing knowledge of diverse adult learning styles.
In addition, the candidate will have the ability to collaborate with diverse groups on complex projects to effectively coordinate a variety of emergency management-related activities and work effectively and independently in a dynamic and periodically high-stress emergency and response-focused environment.
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or a related field; two (2) years of related work experience in public health emergency preparedness, disaster mitigation, and/or emergency response/recovery activities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Completion of HSEEP, ICS 100, ICS 300, ICS 400, ICS 200, IS 700 and IS 800.
