The Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice provides academic instruction to pharmacy students in the PharmD program, including both the campus and online pathways. The successful candidate’s time will be spent with campus-based academic responsibilities, including skills laboratory teaching, didactic instruction, especially as it relates to community pharmacy practice and co-curricular activities. This will also include participation in assigned school or university committees, service as a faculty advisor to pharmacy students, oversight of assigned co-curricular student activities (example: immunization) and participation in research and scholarship. The candidate will work with our community partner, Wegmans Pharmacy. In this role, the successful candidate will develop clinical services and engage in collection and dissemination of outcomes of clinical initiatives. The site may also serve as an opportunity for students to engage in experiential learning. Employment will be on a 3-year (12-month) non-tenure track faculty contract, renewable based on performance.
Campus based activities Teach in the pharmacy skills laboratory and didactic courses in both campus and online pathway.
Create and instruct in interprofessional and pharmacy focused simulation laboratory.
Serve as a co-instructor of co-curricular activities including APhA Immunization, TeamSTEPPS and SBIRT.
Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues in co-instructed courses and in scholarly endeavors
Participate in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, or teaching, in areas appropriate to the faculty member’s areas of interest
Contribute to service in the department, school, university, and the discipline
Mentor students in their academic and professional development
Community Partner practice site (Staffing and Clinical Services providing clinical pharmacy services and immunization programs
Work collaboratively on special projects as assigned by community partner with the focus on outcomes-based initiatives and research.
The site may serve as an opportunity for experiential learning in the community practice setting.
Qualified applicants will have completed a PharmD from an ACPE accredited pharmacy school with at least one year of post-graduate residency training in an ASHP- or APhA- accredited residency program or 3-5 years experience in community/ambulatory care/specialty or managed care pharmacy practice. Applicants with experience in outcomes research in community pharmacy practice is desirable, although not required. Applicants need to be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of New York, if not already licensed in the state. Previous academic experience is highly desirable. Successful candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the school in an innovative, thoughtful, and enthusiastic manner.
