Position Overview
The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Public Health is inviting applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position in the Division of Biostatistics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
We are actively seeking candidates passionate about contributing to the Division's research and teaching missions and who can lend their expertise to the newly established interdisciplinary Health and Environment Modeling (HEALMOD) Initiative. The HEALMOD Initiative at OSU brings together an interdisciplinary community of scholars committed to research at the intersection of human health and environmental sustainability. It is collaboratively administered by faculty in the Division of Biostatistics in the College of Public Health (CPH), faculty in Sociology and Anthropology who focus on quantitative research, and faculty in the CPH Division of Environmental Health Sciences who focus on computational epidemiology, risk assessment, and exposure modeling. Central to HEALMOD is an emphasis on quantitative analyses of eco-social determinants of health, exploring the intricate links between human and natural systems.
Ideal candidates should possess deep expertise in mathematical and statistical methodologies relevant to models in epidemiology, ecology, or the social sciences. Their specific research interests may encompass:
Mathematical/statistical modeling using dynamical systems
Techniques for dissecting complex social and ecological models
Bayesian inference and machine learning tailored for complex stochastic systems
Cutting-edge AI methodologies
Strategies for data reconciliation, coupled with expertise in handling multiscale and multi-stream dynamic data systems.
The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. This is a nine-month position. Rank and salary will be determined by the candidate’s credentials.
Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related discipline by the start of employment. Applicants must have strong records of peer-reviewed publications and teaching/mentoring that are commensurate with rank.

The College of Public Health
The College of Public Health is Ohio’s first accredited college of public health. First established in 1995 as part of the College of Medicine, the University Board of Trustees created the College of Public Health in 2007. In 2023, U.S. News & World Report ranked Ohio State’s College of Public Health graduate program 22nd of all Schools of Public Health. It is one of seven health sciences colleges on the same campus, more than any other university in the U.S. The college includes five academic divisions, two centers of outreach and engagement, four graduate degree programs with several specializations, and an undergraduate degree with two specializations, and two undergraduate minors. Specializations within the college include biostatistics, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, health behavior and health promotion, health services management and policy, veterinary public health, biomedical informatics, and clinical and translational science, and population health management and leadership.
Division of Biostatistics
The Division of Biostatistics includes 11 full-time faculty members who are engaged in independent funded methodological and interdisciplinary research as well as teaching graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty collaborate with researchers from various colleges, centers and institutes, including the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, and the Institute for Population Research. Significant research interactions exist between the Division faculty and researchers from the Department of Biomedical Informatics, the Center for Biostatistics at Ohio State, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital located in downtown Columbus. The faculty co-administers and participates in an Interdisciplinary PhD program in Biostatistics with the Department of Statistics, which currently has about 25 students. The Division also administers the MS (Master of Science) and MPH (Master of Public Health) programs that specialize in biostatistics and participates in the teaching of applied biostatistics courses to various graduate programs and the new, rapidly growing BS program in public health.
