About the Role:
Job Summary
The GME Research Statistician is an integral part of the GME Research Team and is responsible for the design, development, and project management of data analytic needs, including reports, visualizations and other data views, to meet the needs of GME stakeholders for various data analysis needs. This role will have extensive interaction with GME research team members, GME stakeholders and GME leadership and will be tasked with analysis of GME data requirements, and the transformation of those requirements into analytics solutions. The Statistician will be responsible for developing user ready reports from complex datasets 80-90% of the time. Strong project management skills; ability to formulate action plans and timelines and to execute those plans; ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. Strong analytical skills to develop, interpret, adapt, known methods, system procedures or operating concepts to new situations. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Demonstrated ability to achieve results through team efforts, willingness to challenge established practices draw relevant conclusions. Leads and coaches team members to achieve goals, objectives and personal growth.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Completion of (within 1 year of hire) CITI research data certification, Qlik Sense or SNOWFLAKE Data Scientist Certification required should be obtained within 2 years of being hired, and Clarity and Caboodle Data model certified required should be obtained within 1 year of being hired. OR Epic Cogito fundamentals and Cogito Tools Administration certification/accreditation required within 1 year of being hired.
Educational Requirements: Masters Degree
Minimum Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a statistician or data scientist (healthcare environment preferred). High competency with frequentist statistical analysis essential, Bayesian and Predictive Modelling a plus. Experience with languages such as R, Python and SQL, as well as machine learning is preferred. Experience in participating in strategy discussions and review them with researchers as well as project stakeholders is required. Experience is presenting findings in a clear, accessible manner is essential. Experience in working with a data developer useful. Knowledge of Epic Clarity and Caboodle data models is a plus. Knowledge of biostatistical methodologies and rationales a plus. Experience in writing up findings in required (typically AMA) format a plus, as is teaching basic biostatistics coursework, and curriculum development.

Understanding of the full reporting delivery life cycle, from requirements definition to report development and testing required as well as understanding of data analysis best practices and proper use of data management technologies.
Understands healthcare, hospital and ambulatory terminology, business practices, and industry trends and ideas for data analysis, including regulatory regulations such as HIPAA, DNV and MIPS.
Knowledge of clinical documentation and orders databases, research database requirements, data conversion models, workflows, master files, category lists, synonyms and preference lists
Experience in analytics specification gathering, reviews, solution design, estimation and general planning for project execution, monitoring and control.
Hands-on with ability to design, re-design (schemas, data models, entity relationships etc.), and guide investigators.
Experience in understanding end user workflows and determining the most appropriate analytics solutions that supports the operational workflows that will provide end users with the data analysis that is needed in the manner that is needed in order to solve the end user's business problems.
Experience in developing data analysis for complex, multi source data streams
Ability to learn rapidly and to apply formal training to new software environments.
UpToDate knowledge of external databases and platforms such as Qualtrics and RedCap, NVIVO, Minitab, IBM SPSS, MPLus
Experience in creating and maintaining reports that summarize data to be used by management.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Develop and maintains knowledge of scholarly activity pathways in GME and associated institutional requirements.
Maintains a service-oriented approach with customers, providing follow up and responding to issues/ concerns in a timely manner. Answer staff and client questions in person, via email and via phone. Responsible for ensuring service level agreement adherence
Serves as the research team's statistical expert, providing consultation, teaching and project delivery as required by the projects / stakeholders while maintaining a best practices approach to statistical analysis.
Collaborate with the GME Data Developer to develop and maintain a key terms definition list consistent across GME databases and reporting (for example, define "Length of Stay"). Work in collaboration with IT to validate and crosswalk data.
Works closely with end-users to identify and explain data and reporting discrepancies.
Utilizes the report request and development process, including the development of an understanding of a report request, assessment of the appropriate tool to be used to provide the data, creation of a report specification in partnership with the operational stakeholder and business intelligence application analyst, development of the report and validation of the report by the operational stakeholder to ensure quality, timeliness and accountability.
Up to date knowledge of biostatistical research designs and methodologies, validation processes.
Creates standard or custom reports, dashboards, views, etc. summarizing clinical, financial, or operational data for review by executives, managers, physicians and other stakeholders using the Epic Cogito BI tools, Business Objects, Crystal, and Qlik Sense, including GME specific data sources from Qualtrics, RedCap and NVivo platforms.
Works with other analysts to integrate data from other source systems to form richer data sets, including the capture of derived data to address gaps in source system repositories.
Partners with operational stakeholders to understand current reporting, analytics and data needs/requests and help determine the best approach to meeting those needs.
Provides analytical support for departmental metrics and division analytic needs
Prepares and maintains key documents and technical specifications for new and existing solutions.
Facilitates Resident and Fellow learning in data informatics and basic statistics, reporting and inferences.
Provides appropriate project projections to aide in grant submission, and appropriate support for approved grants.
Selects data samples, prepares questionnaires and surveys, and conducts logic checks to maintain data quality.
Participates in development and facilitation of a data analysis curriculum
Collaborates with research coordinators to support data needs in GME related projects, including attendance at appropriate meetings, timely summary deliverables, and validation processes.
Work on additional assignments as delegated by management.
