The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Associate Professors / Professors and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range for an Associate Professor is $101,000 to $110,000, and for a Full Professor is $116,000 to $125,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. The School of Public Health (SPH) at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Associate/Full Professor level in the Division of Health Management and Policy (HMP). The SDSU School of Public Health (SPH) is ranked in the top 15% in the nation and is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The HMP Program is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) and offers an MPH in Health Management and Policy and an MSW/MPH Dual degree. Starting in Fall 2024, a Doctor of Public Health Degree program will be launched, and the successful applicant will serve as the Director of this new program.
The Position: This is a full-time (9-month), state-funded, tenure-track position. The selected individual will be a full- time faculty member of the HMP division and support the MPH and undergraduate programming in SPH. The individual will continue to build an independent research agenda and seek external funding. The faculty is expected to teach HMP-required courses in the DrPH program including health management, finance, and policy courses, as well as other SPH/HMP graduate and undergraduate courses as appropriate. The faculty will direct the new Dr.P.H. program, and the additional responsibilities include scheduling of courses, advising students, overseeing the online format, mentoring of faculty teaching in the program, development of research and practice sites, thesis/dissertation supervision, field practice supervision, and services to the School, College, University, and communities.
We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. Candidates for this position should possess a terminal degree in healthcare management, public health policy, business, global health, or other appropriate fields. Preference will be given to candidates conducting research in the field of global health healthcare management, health service research, and/or delivery of healthcare. Applicants for the position should demonstrate the potential for conducting high-quality extramurally funded research, as well as possess robust teaching/mentoring abilities.
