The Section of Gynecologic Oncology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City is actively recruiting for faculty in the Section of Gynecologic Oncology. The qualified candidate should be eligible to hold the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor. A successful candidate should be board eligible/board certified in Gynecologic Oncology and should be able to obtain an Oklahoma Medical License and be credentialed with OU Medical Center and OU Physicians. Currently, the section has an ACGME approved fellowship, is part of an active academic department, and has outstanding facilities in which it sees more than 10,000 patient visits annually. Gynecologic Oncology is a designated research program for the Stephenson Cancer Center NCI Designated Cancer Center Support Grant and has 24 MD and PhD researchers actively involved in clinical and basic/translational research.
The section moved in 2011 to a new state-of-the-art clinical facility in the Stephenson Cancer Center that houses a multi-disciplinary team of physicians and health care providers who address the whole patient, not just the cancer. The Stephenson Cancer Center is committed to providing the highest-quality patient-centered, comprehensive cancer care in a coordinated and compassionate manner. The Stephenson Cancer Center also supports innovative and impactful research in the basic, translational, clinical, behavioral and populations-based sciences.
The section is a major component of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology which currently has 39 faculty and ranks in the top 10 nationally for NIH funding. It has representation of all subspecialties including fellowship programs in Gynecologic Oncology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in addition to Maternal Fetal Medicine. The Department is part of the OU Health Sciences Center which houses 7 health colleges including the state’s only allopathic medical school. The department has a strong residency program of 24 residents and the Gyn Oncology faculty are fully integrated into medical student and resident education.
