The Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing (CP3) is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead and contribute to the development of research projects and evaluations in pharmacoepidemiology and real-world data analysis related to medications. CP3 is a research center within the Pitt Health Policy Institute that conducts research in pharmacoepidemiology, drug pricing and cost, opioids, and pharmacoequity. Our affiliated faculty span across the schools of the Health Sciences at Pitt. Currently, CP3 is leading several studies developing and implementing opioid risk prediction algorithms. In addition to these areas of research, CP3 and the university are increasingly leveraging real world data to gain insights in medication safety and effectiveness, including through a large PCORnet clinical research network. Within CP3, the Senior Research Scientist will lead one or more ongoing opioid risk prediction studies, collaborating with a team of clinicians and epidemiologists.
The Senior Research Scientist will lead research and evaluation projects, provide key input into study design and methods, supervise data analysis, lead manuscript and report writing and other study dissemination activities. The Senior Research Scientist will also participate in proposal and grant development to apply pharmacoepidemiology methods to study medication safety and effectiveness using real world data. Additionally, the Senior Research Scientist will serve as a methods consultant for CP3 faculty working on pharmacoepidemiology studies, and there may be opportunities to mentor students and other trainees if of interest to the candidate. The candidate will have access to multiple seminars across campus to present and learn about research and will be supported to travel to scientific and policy meetings, ensuring the potential for personal and professional growth.
Doctorate degree – either a PharmD or a PhD – in Pharmacoepidemiology or a related discipline with interdisciplinary interest required. Experience in managing complex epidemiology and real-world analysis studies required. Background in public health, pharmacy, policy, epidemiology with substantial hands-on experience with data analysis, grant or contract writing and publishing of results is desirable.
