Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspection, to ensure compliance with customer blueprints and applicable specifications.
Receive and approve raw material, castings and consumables and verify product and material certifications conform with customer blueprints and applicable specifications.
Receive and approve work in progress from external providers after parts are sent out for special processes. Ensure product and certifications conform with customer blueprints and applicable specifications.
Prepare First Article packages in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements, when required.
Complete routine inspections using applicable drawing, criteria, gauging, control plans and sampling plans.
Maintain accurate inspection records, filing systems and appropriate documentation to conform to all quality regulations.
Communicate with Purchasing department regarding discrepancies with certifications from external providers.
Communicate with Quality Manager regarding questionable measurements and/or non-conforming parts.
Initiate Defective Material Reports (DMRs), as required.
Approve first piece and in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
Approve finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Ensure inspection records are filled out correctly.
Good manufacturing practice and accurate paperwork/reporting in compliance with ISO-9001 and AS-9100.
Make suggestions regarding improved methods to inspect parts.
Proven experience as a quality inspector or relevant role.
Ability to read blueprints and apply to job duties.
Familiarity with quality testing machines and systems.
Knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
Practical experience with manufacturing processes and procedures.
Understanding of GD&T, including geometric symbols associated with GD&T.
Understanding and ability to apply shop mathematics.
