The Department of Biomedical Engineering is perennially in the top five of U.S.News & World Report rankings, with a current ranking of 3rd in the graduate program and 4th in the undergraduate program. It is known for its strong ties to Duke's School of Medicine (ranked 3rd in the nation) and its academic medical center.
